There's nothing to download from an app store. Lineage Tracker runs in your web browser and installs to your home screen like any other app. Once installed, it works without internet.

Install it

Android

  1. Open app.lineagetracker.org in Chrome or Samsung Internet.
  2. Tap the menu (⋮ or ☰).
  3. Tap Install app or Add to Home screen.

iPhone and iPad

  1. Open app.lineagetracker.org in Safari.
  2. Tap the Share button.
  3. Tap Add to Home Screen.

Computer

  1. Open app.lineagetracker.org in Chrome or Edge.
  2. Click the install icon at the right of the address bar, or choose Install Lineage Tracker from the menu.
  3. Firefox and Safari work too, in a normal tab.
Your records live on your device. Back up often with Settings, Back up now, and keep a copy somewhere else, like a USB stick or Google Drive.

Prefer not to use a website at all? Download the app as a zip, unzip it, and open index.html in your browser. Records kept this way are separate from the web version; move them across with a backup.

Lineage Tracker can import spreadsheets saved as CSV, and records converted by Claude or ChatGPT using its plain-English guide. You see a preview before anything is saved, and an import can be undone in one tap.

Questions

Is it really free?

Yes. No subscription, no ads, no paid tier.

Does it need an account or internet?

No account. You need internet the first time you open it; after that it works offline. Weather and the optional smart features use the internet when you ask for them.

Can I use it on my phone and computer?

Yes. Optional sync keeps them in step through your own Google Drive, or you can move records with a backup file.

Is it for plants or animals?

Both, or either. You choose when you first open it, and it only shows what's relevant.

Who can see my records?

Only you. Records stay on your device. Nothing is shared unless you share it yourself, and Lineage Tracker never handles payments or adds personal details to anything you share.
